PHONETIC

PHONETICS

Phonetics, the study of speech sounds and their physiological production and acoustic qualities. It deals with the configurations of the vocal tract used to produce speech sounds (articulatory phonetics), the acoustic properties of speech sounds (acoustic phonetics), and the manner of combining sounds so as to make syllables, words, and sentences (linguistic phonetics).

human vocal organs and points of articulation

ACCORDING TO EXPERT :
1.      (Chaer 1994:102)

Phonetics is a branch of phonological study that studies the sound of a language regardless of whether the sounds have a function of differentiating meaning or not.
2. (Keraf 1984: 30).
Phonetics is the science that investigates and analyzes the speech sounds used in speech, and learns how to produce these sounds by means of human speech.
3. (Kridalaksana, 1995: 56)
Phonetics is the science that investigates the earning, transmitting, and reception  of sounds of language; Interdisciplinary linguistics with physics, anatomy, and psychology.

Chaer (2007) divides the sequence of the process of the sounds of language, into 3 types of phonetics :

1. Phonetic articulator/ phonetic organism /phonetic physiology.
Studying how the mechanisms of speech-devices work in producing sounds of language and how they are classified.
         (Glenson 1955: 239-256; Malmberg 1963: 21-28).

2 . Acoustic phonetics
Studies the sound of language as a physical event or a natural phenomenon (the sounds are investigated for their velocity, aplitudo, and intensity of nature)
        (Malberg 1963: 5-20).

C. Phonetically auditors

    1. Different of phonetics and phonology :
Phonetics deals with the production of speech sounds by humans, often without prior knowledge of the language being spoken. Phonology is about patterns of sounds, especially different patterns of sounds in different languages, or within each language, different patterns of sounds in different positions in words etc

  2. Hello kak sri😊, i wanna ask you. Many sounds are the same in English pronunciation. How do you think you handle this?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. You are true that a lot of pronounciation have almost same in english. Such as accept and except, both of them have same pronounciation, and how to handle it,
You have to understand the sentence and word after and before it..
      for example ..
They all have been to bali except me.
And certainly we have to use except, not accept. Because they are have different meaning.

  3. Hello kak, I wanna ask you.
If phonetic acoustic and auditory phonetics are the same focus on how the sound travels through the air in the form of sound waves and the effects of these waves occur on the ears and brain of the listener.
so why are their names distinguished?
    thankyou😊

    BalasHapus

    1. ok thnks for your question ,
actually phonetic acoustic and auditors are different ,, phonetic acoustic is related with physical event
and phonetic auditors is mechanism of acceptence of the languange by our ears.
so, they are have different function, not same ,,,

  4. I want to address you a question. How many percent do you think your readers will understand with Phonetic by read this blog?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Thanks for your question before .
Phonetics have a lot of discussion and i cannot make it in a video, it will spending a lot of time in a video. And in this video i explained what is phonetic and types of them , that i thought the people who see the video would know what was phonetic actually.
How many percent it is depend their understanding

      Hapus
    2. Why you can't make a video? I'm sure everyone can make a simple and short video tp make people more understand. And if you say that it depends on the people. It seems like you are not responsible enough to teach something.

      Hapus
    3. I have made the video with a duration of 5 minutes. In fact they said my video was too long. I tried to make the video not too long because I was afraid they were bored if watching my video. You said I'm not responsible? The person's understanding is different. Especially if their has difficulty speaking English. But I think if their understands English then their will understand the video that I made it.

      Hapus
    4. I guess watching video about 5 minutes will not get someone bored if its attractive, according to an expert called Traviss bergwall said that students learn better with video, what do you think about that?

      Hapus
    5. Yes you're true that if the video is displayed more interesting then it will not make bored. ,
But if the students learn only use the video , I think it was less condusive, because the students also need approach to teacher in the teaching learning process

      Hapus
    6. Yeah but like i said before 5 minutes video is helpful. You should spare the time wisely when you teach. Not watching video a whole day but, you know just take time.

      Hapus
    7. Ok . thanks for your suggestion.

      Hapus
  5. Hello.. can you explain about phonetic clearly?

    BalasHapus
    Balasan
    1. Slurred is an innate birth that can’t be forced to say correctly. So we have to understanding each word that say from slurred person..

      Hapus
    2. Of course rico..

if you force a slurred person to speak correctly it is like forcing a blind person to can see. that's an impossible thing
